FUN FACTS
FOR A LONG TIME THE TUTU, THE STANDARD COSTUME FOR A FEMALE DANCER, HAD NO NAME. LEGEND HAS IT THAT DANCERS CHRISTENED IT THE TUTU USING A KIND OF BABY TALK WHICH IN FRENCH MEANS ‘BABY’S BOTTOM’!

Introduction to the ballet

Featuring The Dancers Company
A collaboration between The Australian Ballet and The Australian Ballet School, The Dancers Company has toured regional
Australia since 1980. This hour-long programme is an informative and entertaining introduction to classical dance and is particularly engaging for children. The training of the dancers will be demonstrated in a shortened class, followed by a fully staged excerpt from The Dancers Company’s hugely popular Classical Triple Bill programme.

Duration: 60 minutes (no interval)
