Out There - in schools

What is Out There - in schools?

The program was designed to complement the core values of the overall curriculum. It gives Primary students an awareness of dance in a positive, exciting and participatory way, encouraging the participants to be alert, fit and imaginative – stimulating expressive exploration in dance.

“They (the students) realised the links dance has with so many other aspects of learning – fitness and health, Maths, Music, memory and teamwork, to name a few....While I endeavoured to pass on my love of dance, music and drama to the students of this school, your ensemble did in one day what I had been trying to do for the last 7 years. Bravo!”
Primary School Teacher, Regional Victoria

Who delivers Out There?

The program is delivered by members of The Australian Ballets Dance Education Ensemble – all are dance graduates who are given additional professional development in teaching and communicating with young people in a schools’ context. The presenters deliver a range of activities including classroom learning, kinetic and dance workshops, discussions and demonstrations, and a student-friendly program evaluation exercise.

“We were impressed with the way the presenters ran the classes with an excellent balance of movement and information. Our students were thoroughly engaged and there was a real buzz when they returned to their classrooms.”
Primary School Teacher, Regional Victoria

The progam for Primary students includes a Movement Workshop and a Dance Demonstration and Discussion forum, both delivered by the Dance Education Ensemble. These interactive presentations connect with, and inspire the students, as they participate, observe and interact with the Dance Presenters and each other.

We welcome enquiries from Principals and teachers; if you would like to discuss the possibility of booking an incursion for your school in 2012, view the 2012 program dates and print the booking form, and contact:
