The Australian Ballet’s website features many rich resources to assist children, students and both academic and ballet teachers with projects, excursions to the ballet, and general dance research. See the menu to the left or keep reading below.
Information kits
All our theatre programs have accompanying curriculum kits suitable for preparing children for their visit to a theatre performance. Each kit varies in content, but all contain a brief history of ballet in Australia, details on the training of a dancer, a basic ballet vocabulary, background information on the performance, and suggested activities and projects.
2012 Information Kits will be available from late February.
Educational mini documentaries on many aspects of the company covering subjects such as Health and lifestyle, Painting on a character, The new kids and The slipper. These mini docs help to demystify the art form, with an access-all-areas approach to the dancers and staff. Short and succinct, they are ideal for students to dig deeper into the world of dance.
In-depth interviews with choreographers, visiting guest artists and teachers, designers and more.
Photo journalism is another way to introduce young people to the world of dance. Peek behind the scenes, learn more about men in dance, pointe shoes, our international tours, the making of a ballet, the pioneering Ballets Russes companies who brought ballet to Australia. It’s all there in our photo gallery.
Students and researchers who need information for a specific project on The Australian Ballet or related dance subjects not provided by our website can access the company’s archival resources.
