Jia Yin Du trained for six years with Liao Ning School of Dance in China. During this time he won a Gold Medal for the National Ballet competition in China and first prize for the international ballet competition in Tokyo. In 1999 Jia Yin was awarded both the Gary Norman and Jean Wong scholarships enabling him to join The Australian Ballet School. In 2001, he joined The Australian Ballet, going on to dance a number of featured roles with the company, taking in both the classical and contemporary repertoire.
