On 4 October 2012 The Australian Ballet announced that Executive Director Valerie Wilder will be leaving the company at the completion of her five-year contract in June 2013.
The Chair of The Australian Ballet board, Chris Knoblanche, said, “While we will have the opportunity to celebrate Valerie’s contributions closer to her departure, I want to register my appreciation to her for a job well done to date.”
Since Wilder became Executive Director in 2008, the company has delivered strong financial performances and embarked on some major projects, including the 50th anniversary celebrations and the commencement of the building of a new Production Centre. “It has been a great pleasure and privilege to play a role in The Australian Ballet’s success,” said Wilder.
Artistic Director David McAllister said, “Valerie’s knowledge of dance and her business acumen have been a wonderful support as we planned our extensive 50th anniversary celebrations.”
The Australian Ballet has commenced a formal process to find a replacement.
