A FREE evening of ballet favourites
under the stars

Telstra Ballet in the Bowl is a FREE evening of ballet under the stars. To celebrate 30 years of partnership between Telstra and The Australian Ballet, this year’s event features excerpts from all your favourite works, including The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and more.

So bring your family and friends, a rug and a picnic, and enjoy a spectacular evening of ballet’s best, accompanied by Orchestra Victoria.

Gates open at 4pm
Class on stage at 7pm
Performance starts at 8pm

A selection of wines, beer, spirits and soft drink will be on sale in the venue.  Proof of age photo ID will be required to purchase alcoholic beverage.  Free tap water will be available.


A selection of hot & cold food will be on sale in the venue. Reasonable amounts of food and alcohol can be brought into the venue in soft-sided containers or bags for personal consumption. 

Other items not permitted in the venue

• Animals (except registered assistance animals)
• Dangerous or inappropriate goods (e.g. weapons, fireworks)
• Professional cameras or cameras with detachable lenses, camera tripods
• iPads and other tablets
• Portable seating more than 20cm off the ground
• Glass and aluminium containers
• Liquids other than lotions
• Glow sticks, laser pointers
• Promotional material of any kind.


This event is designated non-smoking.  Pass outs will be available.


A picnic-style atmosphere is encouraged; however you may need to stand to see the performance.

Arts Centre Melbourne reserves the right to refuse or revoke entry for any behaviour or activity that is illegal, poses a safety risk or impacts upon other patrons’ ability to enjoy the event.


For the protection and safety of all patrons the Sidney Myer Music Bowl is under 24-hour camera surveillance which will continue during the event.
