Pointe shoe workshop

Each generation of female dancers has developed skills to mould their pointe shoes. These skills support the interaction between the individual dancer’s technique and her shoe. But as pointe shoe production and styles have improved, and shoes require less preparation and care to prolong their life span, the skills of past generations were nearly lost. Today many of these traditional skills have been revised, revisited and reworked by our current generation of female artists.

Join members of the medical team to learn simple, effective and time-honoured skills to mould your pointe shoes and support your feet, and discuss how these skills support the dancer’s foot.

for dance students age 15 and over with 2+ years pointe experience, dance teachers and allied health professionals working with dancers.
Participants who do not fit these requirements will be unable to attend. The name, gender and date of birth of each participant is required at the time of booking.
